About the family
Carlos Alfredo works as a farmer in his village and is paid Q480 a per week. He works only 5 days a week. They also rent a piece of land to plant beans and corn, which they use to support the family. Marta Julia is the mother; she takes care of the house and her children. Carlos Alfredo and Marta have been together for 11 years. Carlos inherited a piece of land from his parents, he already has the deeds of it. They live in a house made of corn stalks, metal sheets and a with a dirt floor. They have access to electric service; they do not have running water nor a sewer system, so they use and outdoor john and get water from the public fountain of the community. They do not have a kitchen, so they cook in the same room. We decide to renew their house so they can be more comfortable.
